I believed all the love at first sight stuff but didn't REALLY get it till I saw him....such a deeper and different love then I've ever experienced.
Although I'd been having contractions for month's, darn you Braxton Hicks, something felt a little different about this evenings. I had spent the day extremely more then usual tired and with a bit more back pain. So as I sat on the couch correcting papers, I also started timing these different contractions. Mom started prepping dinner when I decided, "We better pop over to the hospital before you put the meat in, just to be sure."
After being checked out, I wasn't dilated but due to blood test results, my massively swollen legs and super kankles, doctors said I'd need to go home and be on bed rest till my scheduled C-section over a week away, (2 weeks before my due date), but that they would be surprised if I even made it to that. Boy were they right! We left the hospital, went through the Taco Bell drive through because I was starving, and then I was soon fast asleep in bed. Soon after one of my middle of the night bathroom trips around 2am, I awoke to my water breaking in my bed! I grabbed my cellphone and rushed to toilet and then called mom (who was on the other side of the house but I knew would never hear me), "My water broke!" I decided to take a shower, because they do in the movies and I wanted to feel a bit cleaner from all this water that just keeps coming out of me. Well soon after I got in the shower, full on intense back labor pain contractions started...oh, and so did my swearing. The F-bomb continued every 2 to 1 minute with each horrifying knifing contraction, during the car ride to the hospital (thank God we were only like 15 mins away and that no one was on the road!), and while the nurses checked me out...at least I apologiezed after each F-bomb. Soon, well it didn't feel soon, I was rolled into the operating room, given my meds and the pain stopped. Mom was soon by my side, and we both eagerly awaited your arrival and presentation to the world. A few minutes into surgery though, I hear a doctor say, "Well I haven't seen this before." My mind and heart freak out! What could I be giving birth to that a doctor hasn't ever seen!!! I tell mom to stand up, look over the sheet, and find out what is going on. Well it turns out my guys head was so big, it was still stuck in me. They got him out and there were no issues, but that is not what a new mom wants to here! What I did love hearing was Jaxon's screams. And then seeing him get cleaned, checked, umbilical cord cut by grandma, and almost immediately by my side getting kisses and caresses by me. One thing the doctors did say that I really liked hearing during surgery was, "Wow, your stomach is already flat!" I asked for a six pack put back in, and they all just giggled. Although I was extremely sick from the anasthisia the entire day, it didn't stop me from my skin to skin time with my new love, kisses, and breastfeeding you right away...you latched on like a champ! |
